The Blue Lake, located at the foot of Monte Rosa, is perhaps the most popular hiking destination in the upper Val d'Ayas.
The excursion starts from Saint Jacques, at an altitude of 1689 meters. The difference in altitude is 550 meters, but the climb is quite gentle and allows you to reach the Blue Lake in just under 2 hours.
You begin to climb in the woods, until you reach Fiéry, one of the oldest villages in the Val d'Ayas. From here, follow the path on the right and continue until you reach the Pian di Verra Inferiore: here is the Monte Rosa in all its splendor. But the destination has not yet been reached: it is necessary to cross the whole plateau, in fact it allows you to catch your breath and stretch your legs a little. Another last effort and the destination is close, taking the path that, in less than half an hour, leads to our goal.
The spectacle in front is breathtaking: the lake, of an intense turquoise color, and the massif of Monte Rosa in the background.
