Mascognaz village

A fairytale village made of chalets

By: Visit Brusson

Villaggio di Mascognaz

Not far from Brusson lies, at over 1800 m altitude, an ancient village Walser: the village of Mascognaz.

The village rises in a panoramic point of rare beauty, in front of the Monte Rosa chain.

Formed by a handful of houses, among which there are characteristic rascard, narrow streets, a watering hole and the chapel dedicated to San Grato, from typical high altitude village Mascognaz has now become an incredible luxury hotel.

The typical fourteenth-century Walser houses of the village have been carefully recovered and transformed into seven luxury chalets. Four of them are located in the heart of the original village, while three are located on the orographic right of the homonymous stream.

The village of Mascognaz can be reached via a walk starting from the Champoluc tourist office.  Once reached the beautiful waterfall, the uphill path plunges into the woods, finally reaching the village square.  The experience is suitable for everyone, even for an inexperienced audience.  The route alternates between uphill stretches and other flatter ones.
