This trek begins in the presence of her majesty Monte Rosa.
It starts in Staffal on the dirt road leading to Sant'Anna and continues on a classic mountain trail passing by the Salero alpine lakes to the Rothorn Pass at 2687m towards Val d'Ayas to reach the ancient Walser village of Crest.
The cosy Rifugio Vieux Crest at 1938 metres will be the resting place for this first day of trekking.
From the Vieux Crest hut, we will cross another small Walser village: Mascognaz at 1822 metres, which stands in a panoramic spot of rare beauty. Leaving the village of Mascognaz, we will climb towards the Palasina Pass, where we can admire the beautiful edelweiss, a typical Alpine flower. Passing by the Palasinaz lakes we will arrive at the Arp hut where we will spend the second night.
On the last day of trekking, we will pass through the valley of the "Eight Mountains", the book by Paolo Cognetti and of which a beautiful film was made set there. Through that valley we will reach the small village of Estoul in Val d'Ayas and then climb up to Colle Ranzola at 2170 metres in the Gressoney Valley, from where we will begin a long descent to the village of Gressoney to complete the loop tour.
